Contego’s first quarter for 2018 most definitely got off to a flying start in more than one way!
We’ve very been busy across all areas of the business with exciting growth in both pest and bird control divisions. Our national service delivery is complete as we are now servicing a large proportion of the UK and the rest of the year is looking very exciting too as new customers join us on our journey.
This time of year also means only one thing for some unlucky business owners; gull season is upon us. In this quarter’s newsletter, you’ll find some helpful advice on preventative measures you can take against problem gulls, and what to do if they’re already causing a nuisance. One of the measures we use to control birds is falconry, and as well as being the Managing Director of Contego, I am also involved with conservation and the captive breeding of falcons.
The falcons we breed are used by Contego, and we also supply them to Middle Eastern clients. I’m proud to say I’ve bred many of the falcons on the team personally! Most of the birds we breed are sent to the United Arab Emirates where falconry is a real way of life and a strong part of the cultural heritage where they use the falcons to both hunt and race!
At the end of January, I was lucky enough to fly out to Abu Dhabi to attend the final races of the Abu Dhabi President’s Cup falconry competition. The culmination of four months of race heats for the teams.
Our falcons were winners in the Public Category and that makes me feel very proud and privileged to have witnessed it first-hand! The captive breeding plays a major part in the conservation of the wild falcons traditionally used for middle eastern falconry, relieving pressure on wild taken falcons. When we say we have good birds we really mean it.
In this issue we are spotlighting some industry products that have been launched over the last 12 months, the E-mitter and also Project Neo. Will Project Neo solve the biggest problem in rodent control?
