“We are a top tier COMAH site producing a Syrup that eventually becomes "Perspex" & were a haven for nesting seagulls on vessels, Structures & Roofs on our site.
These seagulls posed two major problems the 1st being their “guano" Is very corrosive & also not very nice for our operators to do their work with it splattered every where. It is also difficult & expensive to remove.
The second & more pressing was that during the breeding season the birds were very aggressive protecting their nests, Eggs & chicks to the point that they attacked the plant operators if they were anywhere in the vicinity of the nesting site.
Contego used a series of strategies at 1st flying Cross peregrine falcons on the site that initially made the seagulls nervous. Once the gulls were starting to feel uncomfortable Contego Introduced their Harris Hawks.
We eventually ended up with very few on our site making it a much cleaner , quieter & free from seagull attack site”
Special training (national safety passport) was undertaken by Contego operatives to allow them access to the top tier COMAH site.
