Large amounts of bird fouling, known as guano, not only looks unsightly, it’s a risk to health and safety, and it can damage buildings, vehicles, and machinery. It also requires specialist cleaning.
The problems caused by bird fouling:
It’s a risk to human health: The diseases carried by birds can be transmitted to humans, and if pathogens in guano are ingested or inhaled, serious conditions like lung infections can occur.
It’s a slip hazard: Guano can be very slippery if it’s left on walkways.
Insect infestation: Insects like fleas, mites, and other pests are found in birds’ nests. A high pest bird population will increase the risk that these pests will get into your premises and damage products and textiles.
Damage to buildings, vehicles, and machinery: Guano contains acid so it’s caustic and will erode buildings and vehicles, leaving you with expensive repairs.
